  • Kind Words

“CARLA IS A WARM, PATIENT, AND COMPASSIONATE THERAPIST WHO HAS PROFOUNDLY IMPACTED MY LIFE. THROUGH THE USE OF ART THERAPY SHE HAS CREATED A SPACE THAT GIVES VOICE AND UNDERSTANDING TO SOME SITUATIONS TOO IMMENSE AND DIFFICULT TO VERBALIZE. SHE IS VERY ENCOURAGING AND SUPPORTIVE, ALLOWING OUR SESSIONS TO UNFOLD ORGANICALLY AND WITHOUT PRESSURE. HER ABILITY TO SIT WITH TOUGH EMOTIONS AND TOPICS WITHOUT JUDGMENT IS A TESTAMENT TO HER COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING, AND COMPETENCE.”

  • Kind Words

“CARLA IS SO GIFTED AT WHAT SHE DOES!! I STARTED OUT FEELING DEEPLY UNCONFIDENT IN MYSELF AND HAVE GAINED STRONG FOOTING IN SELF COMPASSION AND CONFIDENCE UNDER HER INTENTIONAL AND IMPACTFUL GUIDANCE.”

  • Kind Words

“CARLA IS KIND, THOUGHTFUL, AND UNDERSTANDING. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT SHE IS VERY STRATEGIC IN HELPING YOU FIGURE THINGS OUT. SHE REMEMBERS THE LITTLE THINGS, TAKES DETAILED NOTES, AND DOES CHECK INS. AS MUCH AS I LOVE TO WAX POETICALLY ABOUT MY PROBLEMS, SHE HELPS ME STAY ON TRACK TO FOCUS AND IMPROVE WHAT'S BOTHERING ME.”

About

Carla Lopez is an art therapist who works with adults and adolescents. Carla moved from France at age 14 and has found her home in Colorado. She follows a strength-based and client-centered approach with a trauma-focused lens. Carla aims to bring a gentle, compassionate, and non-judgmental perspective to every session to guide clients through the healing process.

Carla works with teens age 12+ and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. She is also passionate about working with clients who identify as LGBTQ+ and people of various cultural backgrounds. Carla enjoys introducing art therapy as an alternative tool for expression and self-awareness for clients of all abilities and art making comfort levels. Art therapy has also been recognized as a treatment of choice for trauma due to art’s ability to tap into the non-verbal part of the brain and process things that cannot be put into words. In addition, art provides opportunities for creating a safe space and for practicing mindfulness. Carla enjoys guiding adult clients through art therapy to deepen their self-understanding, reconnect with their inner child and navigate their journey to healing in a unique, eye-opening way.

Carla most recently worked with adolescents in a high school where she loved finding various ways to connect with teenagers and allowing them to regain feelings of empowerment and safety. Carla has also provided art therapy services for clients of all ages in inpatient and outpatient programs at a psychiatric hospital. In that setting, Carla connected with her passion for helping women to find and build upon their existing strengths. Carla is currently licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.0015778) and is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR#17-448).
