About
Nadja Dixon is a licensed professional counselor located in Colorado. She provides mindfulness-based psychotherapy services to women, young adults, college students, and young professionals.
Nadja holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Psychology. Her theoretical orientation combines strengths-based therapeutic work, client-centered counseling, mindfulness-based therapies, somatic mindfulness when trauma appropriate, executive function skill building, motivational interviewing, DBT emotional tolerance skill building, transpersonal counseling, gestalt counseling, and narrative therapy. Nadja draws mainly from Attachment Theory, Neurobiology, and Systems Theory.
Nadja has worked with a variety of clients in a myriad of settings. From working in substance abuse treatment, counseling individuals on probation and parole, supporting college students in building executive function skills, to healing brains through neurotherapy, she brings a working knowledge of many fields to her clinical work. Nadja’s clients find her engaged, interested, and validating. She relies on a non-judgemental approach and incorporates her naturally spunky and lighthearted nature in session.
Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Nadja achieved an undergraduate degree in Anthropology due to her curiosity around culture, ritual, ceremony, and rites of passage. She also spent three years studying South American shamanism both in North and South America, which has enabled her to support clients in their processes of personal transformation and reconnection to their inner selves.
Rites-of-passage, coming of age stories, and overall life transitions are Nadja’s passion. We all change in our lives, yet often our cultures and societies don’t recognize these shifts. As a therapist, Nadja focuses on honoring these critical times in people’s lives while supporting their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
