CBT
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy modality created to help you to change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. CBT uses practical self-help strategies with measured scales for start of treatment and outcome. These are designed to immediately improve your quality of life by changing your belief patterns.
DBT
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy (psychotherapy) that supports people who experience emotions very intensely to regulate their emotions and reactions. Dialectical behavior therapy was developed in the 1970s by Marsha Linehan, an American psychologist. “Dialectical” means opposing ideas and DBT is the idea of integrating two extreme feelings and responses so one can find the middle ground (for example: guilt and anger). DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as supporting them in breaking self-sabotaging and self-limiting reactions.
DBT is especially effective for individuals having difficulty managing and regulating their emotions and Nervous System along with symptoms such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, PTSD, depression, anxiety and difficulty being in healthy relationship. DBT helps you learn how to cope in healthy ways to stressors, trauma triggers, relationships and feeling out of control.
Our therapists do not participate in the strict and full protocol of a DBT treatment program. Our therapists are trained in DBT techniques for a 1:1 outpatient setting.
ACT
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.

In our practice, we can work with clients with a history of suicidal ideation and current passive suicidal ideation. It is best to be working in a higher level of care if you are experiencing active suicidal ideation and plans. There are several DBT programs as well as IOPs and Inpatient hospitals in the Denver area.

DBT is mostly focused on skills and coping skill building. The focus is to feel you can tolerate stress and emotions in life. DBT can support you in getting to the place of tolerating processing any trauma or life stressors comfortably in therapy.

We do not offer a full DBT program. We do offer 1:1 support for individuals wanting to feel more comfortable with their emotions and wanting to reduce their reactions to emotional experiences, triggers and stressors.
